SSL troubleshooting

What to do if your site shows a certificate warning, does not load over HTTPS, or has a broken padlock.

If your website does not show a padlock, gives a certificate warning, or redirects incorrectly, it is usually related to DNS, certificate issuance, or HTTPS settings.

Common causes

  • Domain not fully pointing to the server yet — wait for DNS propagation.
  • SSL certificate not yet issued — check the SSL section in your hosting panel.
  • HTTPS forced before SSL was active — disable force-HTTPS until the cert is confirmed.
  • Mixed content warnings — update any hardcoded HTTP links inside your site.
  • Expired certificate — renew or reissue the certificate from your hosting panel.

Steps to resolve

  • Confirm the domain is pointing correctly to your hosting server.
  • Open your hosting panel and check if an SSL certificate has been issued.
  • If not issued, use the SSL tool to request a free certificate.
  • Only enable force-HTTPS after the certificate shows as active.
  • If still failing, open a support ticket with your domain name.
